f you’ve ever thought that it would be really nice to be able to grow herbs for cooking, tea, or even medicinal reasons, you’ll be glad to know that having a home herb garden is easy to do. Not only is it easy, you don’t even need a lot of room or a big yard.
Your garden can be as big or small as you want it to be. It can take up your whole yard, consist of just a few containers on your deck or patio, or fit in your kitchen windowsill. Below I’ll outline 3 basic steps you need to take to get started on your own herb garden today.
1. The first step is to decide what types of herbs you want, tea, medicinal, culinary, or a few of each. Once you’ve made that decision you can move on to the next step.
2. Now you have to decide where you’ll put your garden. If you are just doing a small indoor garden, try to choose a location that gets a lot of sunlight. For outside gardens choose a location that will get a lot of sunlight and that also has well drained soil. Keep in mind what the height of your plants will be when they are mature and make sure you allow enough room.
3. Decide if you want to plant your herbs from seeds or if you’d prefer to get some plants from your local nursery. Most herbs can be planted directly from seed, but not all. These simple steps are enough to get you started on having your own home herb garden.
No matter which options you choose you will be able to enjoy healthy, organic herbs all year long.
